Greetings to ALL Cartier Cousins...
The responsibility for carrying on our Annual Family Reunion tradition has been passed on to the cousins ‑ AS IT SHOULD BE!!! Holly has officially and graciously led us onto our new path and I will gladly take my turn for next year. After applying considerable thought and deliberation, Dan & I would like to make the following proposals to ensure that our Annual Family Reunion tradition will continue long into the future. We have looked at what would be the most fair and equitable way to set up who would take the lead each year and at the same time eliminate the need for any confusion ‑ the KI.S.S. method!!! The brilliance is that those "longest in the tooth" would have their opportunity first while rotating from each family of origin. Please see the next page for clarification.
The eldest child from each family would rotate in order first ‑ then, the second child from each family would rotate in order next and so on... There are no ground rules other than that each cousin takes their turn as the lead for the year assigned. Help can be solicited from anywhere or from anyone who would like to lend assistance to the person who is the lead each year ‑ how that is determined is up to the cousin "in charge" and their imagination, ingenuity and creativity. We feel this may create a wonderful opportunity to enlist the active participation from our children so they can be ready when preparations are passed on to them!!!
The Scout House in Seymour has been a perfect location Since we have reserved it for the 4 th Saturday in August, we are guaranteed that same Saturday each summer for as long as we continue to request it. This weekend will never coincide with the Labor Day weekend ‑ Joel, said so. The main thing is that we all will have our opportunity to host. But, more importantly, we all will know WHO, WHERE & WHEN!!! The vision of what a Family Reunion can be or should be will be up to each of us respectively ‑ any & all possibilities will be embraced as long as everyone can look forward to being together at least once a year for a happy and harmonious gathering. Hopefully, the suggestions we have proposed will help to make that happen in the easiest way possible.
Finally, we propose that any main menu costs incurred will be absorbed collectively among all cousins in attendance. Appropriate paper products/utensils to be arranged for by the host. Cool‑aid type beverages and snacks to share to continue ‑ clean up of these contributions will be the responsibility of those providing them. Beer & soda to be brought by those who desire an alternative beverage choice.
With our best wishes to you all,
Nancy and Dan

By the time Quentin has taken his turn we will probably all be ready for our children to begin a rotation ‑ and, each of us will have had many years of happy memories with only 1 year of official responsibility!!!
We DO NOT need to concern our parents with the specifies of how the torch will be carried. We simply need to arrange for them to be present when the day arrives ‑ after all, that is what they have done for us all these many years!!!
We look forward to seeing you all on:
The 4th Saturday of August 2004 = Aug 28th 2004. At the Seymour Scout House on High St. W. = West High St.
